Just now via their official website, Death Cab have finally issued a formal statement regarding the stage collapse at yesterday’s Ottawa Blues Festival. Although they were Tweeting up a storm all night with information about the scary event, this if the first official word from the group as a whole. It looks like they will do their best to return to Ottawa ASAP, so that’s definitely good news for all you disappointed fans out there who missed them last night. The statement reads as follows:
“The main stage at Ottawa Blues Festival collapsed on Sunday during a severe thunderstorm while Cheap Trick was on stage, just before Death Cab For Cutie was scheduled to perform. Our hearts go out to those that were injured and we are so thankful that no one was killed. DCFC will return to Ottawa and play a proper show as soon as time permits. As Nick stated on Twitter last night: ”Thanks to all the great fans here in Ottawa for understanding how sad and scary today was… We will be back, we will figure out a way.”
